Thanks Harvey

Obituary - Harvey Volke

Friends and colleagues gathered recently in Sydney to pay their last respects to Harvey Volke. Harvey is best known in New South Wales where he was dedicated to the social housing sector and social justice and was an inspirational fighter and advocate for tenants in the social housing sector.

Working in both the government and community sectors for many years Harvey's tireless work as a social housing advocate and champion of reform, in various guises, over many years, has benefited countless social housing stakeholders, who will continue to benefit for years to come.

Harvey was also committed to genuine Tenant Participation, never doubting for a moment that tenants had within their own ranks, people who knew the solutions to the problems bureaucracies struggle to understand, much less address.

Harvey was a unique individual whose intelligence, passion and enthusiasm had a huge influence on all who knew him. We thank Harvey for his inspiration and leadership in advocating for tenants in the social housing sector.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Harvey's family and to his colleagues at Shelter NSW, where Harvey worked as a Policy and Liaison officer.
